20130130                 Be Perfect (Jesus)                 Death                 Death Description

When asked by a disciple for leave to attend his father's funeral

"Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead."
               Matthew 8:22

"God is not the God of the dead, but of the living"
               Matthew 22:32

These verses suggest to me that Jesus was concerned with life because after death it's too late, it's over, done, decisions all made, irrevocable, so your fate in heaven, hell, or oblivion is unchangeable, THEN. But life NOW, changeable, you still have choice. To paraphrase another way:

"I offer life. If you worry about what I or anyone else says you must do to 'live' after death, then you are dead already .... sigh! .... and you don't have to be. When you realize it is God's plan for you, as all life, to die so that other life may live and get rid of good and evil (Be Ye Therefore Perfect) you will be free of worry and able to recognize human consciousness (imagination) IS life everlasting. You can imagine the beginning of the universe and the end of the universe; the alpha and omega; eternity. Life everlasting is yours now if you step upon the golden platter I offer and thank God for your life rather than cursing him for your death."

The following quotes all say the obvious about death, human death; my paraphrase:

I will come as a thief in the night, you don't know when, perhaps when you are 125 years old, perhaps today. Death can come this instant or 100 years from now, but it will come. Are you ready?"

"If the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. Be ye therefore ready, also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not"
               Luke 12:39-40

"But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up." (compare Luke: 12:39)
               Matthew 24:43

"But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my father only."
               Matthew 24:36

"The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him and in an hour that he is not aware of"
               Matthew 24:50

"Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come."
               Matthew 24:42

"Watch therefore for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of Man cometh"
               Matthew 25:13
