Language                        Law                        Morality                        Self                        (ll) Ode to The Senses

Math: Mathematical “derivatives” are of course “derived” from something else, observations I guess. So first-order, second-order, etc. leads us deep into the Plato’s cave, further from observation which, some say like David Hume, is all we can know.

Common human decency seems to be a modern name of Yahweh, god of vengeance against evil doers, or at least his “punishment” tempered a “little bit” by Jesus’ compassion; death penalty by quick acting drug injection rather the crucifixion, still death nonetheless. Yahweh demands justice, and, as Jesus said, those who worship Yahweh will have their reward. As soon as you reach into that dry well for another “stone” of justice to cast at sinners, another will reach into that same dry well to fetch another stone to throw back at you, as sure as this day will pass. You will have your reward. ISTMRN that many are bewitched; they think they pour life-giving buckets of water from the well; but the well is dry and only holds stones.

Self: I just cried, more sighed, a little, put my hands over my eyes, as the thought escaped "Your words infuse me", and immediately “God” flashed to mind. I have cried more deeply before and pleaded, “Please not me!!” And then my devil says, “Liar, you want immortality, want people to know your name forever, like Achilles."

And yes I do. The desire may not disqualify me. I do not know if I serve God or Satan, I little of each I suppose, if indeed they are different. If they are, I suspect I agree and disagree with some of each one.

Naming Rights: We have a thing here in Chicago we call “naming rights. A person or corporation can buys a thing, building, etc. and includes in the contract explicit recognition of those “naming rights”. These “rights” can be traded, e.g. for cash. Examples are Comiskey Park to Cellular Field, Sear Tower to Willis Tower. I doubt Comiskey and Sears had purchased such rights by contract with someone else. If not, they must have purchased them from God. I don’t know if there are legal implications associated with those rights that aren’t already protected under copyright laws, but if so, how absurd. You can all sorts of contracts agreeing to use a name for something you own, or even something you don’t own. You can copyright that name or other symbol of thought, so the law will assist you in enforcing your contacts.

But if I or anyone not under contract wants to “name” the building something else, anything else, the can, despite your rights. So why don't newspapers and TV stations continue using the old names? (except for worship of “contracts”). So to change a “name” you need to change “minds”, you don’t need the “rights”. Malleable minds jumped on the new names, tradition is cast aside in an instant, e.g. as in LGBTQ is good”.

Progress: Prentiss Hospital must give way to the juggernaut of progress – a new, “modern and efficient” medical center. “C’est la vie". The new center will help so many more people “et la vie est bonne".
