Climate Change                                Soul                                Letter to Neil Steinberg: Sanctity of Marriage

(J) Global Warming: I often ask myself rhetorically, “Are there any advantages to global warming?” I have even asked in letter to editors and CEO’s of oil companies. So far I have not heard anyone else ask this question. The answer ISTMRN is overwhelmingly “of course”, the same answer to the question, “Are there any disadvantages to global warming?” I suspect by using standards of same reducing human suffering used to deplore the disadvantages, advantages may dominate.
  1. higher T, longer growing seasons, more moisture in the hydrologic cycle, more rain, more food;
  2. many people buy winter homes in the warmer climates I suspect in part because they like the warmth
  3. warm tropics support the most "divesity" of species on the planet.
So the rhetorical questions stand for, “Why aren’t the likely advantages on the table along with potential disadvantages?” Of course I can challenge arguments that “more food = more lives = more joy = more good”, with the pessimistic alternative, “more food = more lives = more misery = more bad”. So you see, I remain confused, and, as such, a wandering spectator.

Deep tears: I cry because I think I have touch the human soul. Asked Jeannie, “What should we talk about at lunch?” I thought a moment, then excited said, “God”, though of course I don’t believe in God or gods.

My days, I suspect, would seem to many people to be sheer boredom, no sounds, no electrical moving pictures, just me and my thoughts. Days I find overwhelming exciting and I rue them coming to an end.
