Appearance and Reality                             Idea of "Other"

(J) The Desk: I plan to add the last coats of Tung oil finish in a radial pattern about the “source”, so the source even radiates more “reflectance” (called gloss in the refinishing business, or at least the retail, amateur end of it). Subtle, very subtle, probably visible only when trying to see details in low angle reflections.

I like subtle, hidden things. Things that are now what they appear to be, at least at first glance, with is the most most things ever get, being sufficient to classify them into some existing category. The contrarian I am, I delight in things that lie beyond first glance. Such things are totally unnecessary to know in order to classify as something as a threat or no, food or no, interest or no, good or no; so quite useless, I guess. But the colors in labradorite, wave patterns in clouds, reflectivity secrets in the desk, the “image” above opposing parabolic mirrors, and other such things that are more than they first appear.
