Government                Idea of Time                Morality                Thought Process

Life Force: I feel the life force when I hold my breath till I can’t any longer, then hold it five seconds more. The life force compels anyone to breathe (repeated 20101020 and 20110120), even if it must shut off consciousness for some practiced individuals, not me. Compelling, yes; but not very smart for drowning perhaps, causing a “last gasp” inhale. But perhaps that is smartest after all, quickening death (pun intended).

Drugs:It occurred to me that the Afghanistan war is but a skirmish in the bigger drug war --Then to – Why so much ado about drugs? -- Then to -- a possible answer, “because drugs interfere with community”. Cohesion of community gives each individual far more power than by acting alone. We don’t even mind the billionaire skirmishes. We want, will compel if needed, commitment to “community” and drugs threaten commitment of individuals.

Why is “community” so important?
Because it increases power.
And how shall we direct this power?
Toward gaining “more”

-- a greed that turns to “economic growth” and “progress”, even “moral” progress especially after Darwin. I sometimes wonder about that, especially the latter, but you see, that is the danger of drugs.

Medieval Hierachies: Somewhere I read feudal fiefs (fees) were 3% of the crop and military service of young men, in turn for protection from thieves. So each “lord” of about 1000 people "owned" a few hamlets and surrounding country side. People in the hamlets were all farmers, subsisting from their efforts in the fields. So 3% of 1000 producers is the farm labor of 30 people. This is given to the lord from somewhere like Battle or even nearby smaller Sedlescombe. His lord (and all people had lords (fiefs) except the “sovereign”) may hold the fief of several or many nearby lords of hundreds to thousands of people, and on up the “contractual” line.

Universe: There is only this time. Neither the past nor the future exist but in our minds, perhaps in a dog’s mind too, I doubt a spider’s. This universe is the inevitable result of the past, and the future is but infinite possibilities; now is all there is. Since it takes time for information to reach me, I can’t sense or “know” the state of the universe, only what is was an instant ago, and only as a construct in my mind. That seems obvious and intuitive though I hardly ever dwell on it.
