Aphorism 33 Epistemology
A Year Later and no journal entries Locke’s tabla erasa – I don’t believe that. Instead I think human experience is like a 500 page book, the first 495 pages determined at conception (actually before, maybe at the Big Bang), e.g. ATP formation in cells, mitochondrial metabolism, heart beating, etc. The 5 pages left over are what philosophers have argued about for at least the last 2500 years, e.g love, rationality, and the gods. We are innate to a large degree and have free will only to a small degree. (Aphorism 33) |
