This category overlaps with Compassion Senses Teleology Souls or Self Joie de Vivre is reserved for mental states of joy such as love, compassion, and empathy. Senses on the other hand are getting at more sensual experiences of joy such as watching the seasons change and music. Teleology: Happiness or its search provides meaning for many people. Some find happiness in art, love, music, science, math, purpose, morality to reward some and punish others, sadism-masochism, procedures (my latest favorite), exercise, jobs, television, sports, romance novels, gambling and myriad others. Causes of happiness vary thoughout life, sometimes love, sometimes jobs, sometimes punishing others; the self is ever changing. |
