20120716                  Idea of God
"Though a sinner do evil an hundred times and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that is shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him: But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God."        Ecclesiastes 8:12-13

"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgement, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil."        Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 the last 2 verses of Ecclesiastes

These verses implore one to fear God, which is inconsistent with the futility/vanity theme of the rest of the Ecclesiastes. These verses were probably added to ensure Ecclesiastes made it into the canon, as other Bibical scholars have noted.
