Morality                                Thought Process

13 months later. During the past year I recorded my journal in Microsoft OneNote database. I ran into home networking problems and corrupted the OneNote database. I lost most late 2013 and earlier 2014 entries, so I abandoned OneNote for now (added 20200720: until I transferred saved one note links to this web site in May 2020).

Joseph Campbell on Myths: Myth Class, MCC, Diane Wiezen, the moderator told us old folks to write any questions we might have during a TV show “The Power of Myth”, in six 1-hour episodes in which Bill Moyers inteviewed Joseph Campbell. We watched Episode 1: The Hero’s Adventure, during which I wrote the following questions and comments.
  • What person will chose a less efficient killing or tilling tool?
  • Eel story similar to serpent-buffalo girl story, “girl meets boy, leaves home”
  • All the chanting New Guineans probably have cell phones now – We won!
  • Sacred Death = Sacrifice. I don’t think we like sacred deaths any more, e.g. beheadings; we prefer drone bombings, much safer.
  • Being alive = rescuing young men, so is one dead who chooses NOT to rescue?
  • How do you choose the right person? Anyone will work?, No, soul mates!, all are soul mates!
  • Nietzsche – beyond “thou shalt” = Zarathrutra I am!
  • Slay the Dragon of “thou shalt”.
