Language                    Thought Process

Thought Chain: Reading the gospel of Thomas in the Nag Hammadi lead to thoughts (first recorded thought, added 20200715) about extracting the red words of Jesus, to thoughts about the “correct” translation, to thoughts the King James Version is as good as any, to thoughts that clarifing or making accessible the bible by new translations misses the whole point. No matter the translation, no matter if we have the original Greek, each word becomes a discourse on “meaning”. I have some familiarity with discourses about every word writing goverment regulations. (10CFR960, Subpart C: Post-Closure Guidelines)

So the “word” vrs “meaning is secondary to discourses which chase “meanings”. The scientist in me says there is no need to change the words, only to try to “get at” the meaning using other words. A standard of reference is useful as a control. I use the bible Aunt Jule gave me when I was 11 years old.
