Commerce                              Morality (marijuana)

Marijuana: In writing letters to the editor about pot legalization, I touched on “reefer madness” as a reason some say it should be illegal, and perhaps they are right. Perhaps refer madness includes a measure of quietism, of “let me be in my thoughts and feelings”. Perhaps a quietism that says, “I don’t want to work so hard” which is fatal to powers who claim part of your work for themselves while, of course, claiming it is all for “you”.

In fact the “management” of other’s productivity is considered itself a higher form or productivity, worthy of greater rewards. So the “takers” only “take” what they are given, whether a dollar a person (“underling”) per year in the world as Bill Gates and Warren Buffet do, or 50% of all productivity as government does here in the United States today. So our “obligation” is “to work hard …. harder ….. even harder …… to produce more and more” so we “the takers” can take our 0.01% or 50% to “manage your share” (wages, stocks, or and what’s left after taxes). “The harder you work, the richer we all become.”

Perhaps pot smokers like me don’t want “more” or at least aren’t willing to “work” more for it as much. That then is a real threat to world order. Perhaps death isn’t a severe enough punishment, but “felonization is certainly not extreme.
