Acceptance                                Betterment                                Language

Friday the 13th, better be extra careful today as Pogo, the swamp possum warned, n’est ce pas?

Ambiguity:
If God exists and is good ......... then .. ?
If the Devil exists and is bad ... then .. ?

Paraphrase of source of “belief”:

“We must walk as close to the devil as we can where all the fun is, but not cross the line. Temptation but redemption if we, as we inevitable do, fail and “cross the line” into “sin”, perhaps lusting for another woman or man, of for more money, or for someone to suffer. But we take comfort from the fact that there are fellow travelers, fellow sinners who will show us the way to forgiveness and redemption. Thank God for such godly guides, for I am but a lost forgotten soul wandering in a sea of doubt, and long for a guiding light. So I am happy to follow the path of the one’s who see the light.”

Except I have never met a person who sees the light, not a soul, not as I, a wanderer in the darkness or light (“it”, what is, is both).

Dad once warned me, “Never underestimate the ambiguity of the English language”. I try not to, recognizing that ALL boundaries are fuzzy; each word’s meaning included. And, of course, words are an important part (tool) of our repertoire for assessing “reality”, which for word’s sake, always remain elusive, ambiguous, fuzzy, at least to me. It seems I was out of the room when they handed out the certainty gene.

But Mama the secret is not forbearance, the secret is joy, or least mine is. Not forbearing normal pain, suffering and travail for isolated moments of joy stolen from the universe of misery, but a joy at each instant that is available for the taking. So, yes, why improve, why strive to do better, to make the world better; it’s perfect as it is, at least for now for me. Food and shelter are secure, perhaps not if ...... (low probability). Probability is how we deal all fuzzy boundaries, mathematical or seat-of-the-pants guesses of relative liklihood among options of choice, i.e. free will.
