Idea of "Other" Souls Thought Process
Truth: Islam suicide bombers and American GI’s ISTMRN all put their lives in service of higher ideals than the self. There are many who claim to know those ideals who will gladly accept your service in joined pursuit of the Good. Islam or America, because, you see, America is a religion in every sense that Islam is. It has been said “the truth hurts” and perhaps. For some it may if and only if there is some diabolical machine of their own making that winces at the truth that twists and pulls and pinches. Do away with truth, unless you like the pain. In the science of rhetoric, the truth is about how to effectively deceive. I am an old philosopher, retired scientist of some local note, specialty in geology, retired internet entrepreneur (unsuccessful financially but successful experience-wise), and teacher. Through it all, I pursued truth, the goals of both philosophy and science as well as law. I found it often conflicted with policy and in such cases policy always won, with reasoning such as, “truth is relative, so all truths are equal, so let’s just pick one or make one up to justify policy”. Policy usually meant increased budgets. For example my truth that we need no spend more money to achieve “safety” lost out to the truth we did. Polar bears of babies? It seems we have the wisdom and knowledge to affect the world around us. Do we have the wisdom and knowledge to manage those affects, or do we just lament them? |
