Jail Time                            Law                    Morality

Janet Jackson’s breast was exposed, nipple flashed on live TV, at the half-time show of the Super Bowl. WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL??? News filled with Jane Doe and Kobe Bryant, Martha Stewart, Michael Jackson sex cases. Are we so obsessed with Puritanism? We splash sex across the screen, even replacing “news” with sex stories; then are aghast when a nipple is flashed for a second on national TV. We applaud and laugh at Jerry Springer and cover our eyes for Janet.

Then I go to jail for talking to a lying policemen. I feel very angry and am losing all moral foundations and respect for this society’s country. There are people I met in jail who hit people with a fist and were “corrected” (sent to jail) for it, while we cheer the soldier who cheered as his tank fired a rocket that killed 40 Iraqis. We defend freedom while passing the Patriot Act. George Will listed “freedom” as medical care, pensions, not mentioning civil liberties at all. This discussion will go on. My feelings are anger, disillusionment, loneliness, uniqueness, fear of the unknown as to where this leads my mind. I have lost all patriotism and desire to contribute to society. I feel few can see what’s happening because we are all so encircled and enmeshed by it. (Forest for the trees?)
