Commerce                         Compassion                         Energy                         Idea of God
I received a telephone job offer of $21,000 annual salary from the Human Resources Department at Sandia National Laboratory in Albuquque, New Mexico. I accepted immediatiately. I told, in order, my major professor who was just down the hall, Susie, and my parents. The next day, Friday, I got a call from Dick Lynch, manager of the nuclear waste program I was hired for. He congratulated me and told me Dick Lincoln would be my immediate supervisor. He had just hired Dick for to head the Tecnical Overview Division, instead of Lynn Tyler who was my host supervisor during the two-day interview process. Sunday, February 19, Dad wrote the following congratulatory letter to me. I include it because it gives his only record on God, thus my God. Also because of his decription of an energy shortage on his business (Rolladan Shutters which he owned) due to a coal stike.
